Assistant Camera (1st AC)
The Camera Assistant (AC) team ensures the camera department operates flawlessly. The 1st AC manages absolute focus in real time and maintains all camera assets. The 2nd AC manages slating, changes lenses, tracks camera metadata, and supports the 1st AC. Both roles demand intense technical focus, speed, and strict equipment organization. We evaluate you based on your live muscle memory, technical curiosity, and reliability under pressure. All production days are structured around standard 8-hour shifts.
Core Responsibilities
Build and break down the camera package daily.
Pull focus accurately in real time on moving subjects (1st AC).
Mark actor positions and manage measuring tapes/markers (1st/2nd AC).
Slate scenes clearly and track camera logs accurately (2nd AC).
Execute fast lens changes, filter swaps, and battery management safely (2nd AC).
Maintain clean sensors, lenses, and strict organization of the camera cart.
Ideal Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience filming, creating, or doing camera work. (Formal film set experience is not strictly required, but you must know how to operate camera systems).
Gear Compatibility: Ownership of a personal rigging setup, monitor, or power accessories that interface seamlessly with E-mount builds and compact cinema camera cages.
Focus to keep shots sharp and track camera menu settings under pressure.
System Knowledge of wireless follow-focus systems, monitors, and matte boxes.
Speed to swap lenses and media cards without slowing down the 8-hour day.
Punctuality to arrive before call time to prep the camera package.
Production Environment
Production opportunities under Fendi Productions may include dramatic film productions, episodic storytelling, spec commercials, branded visuals, documentaries, fashion related content, real estate visuals, corporate and service based business campaigns, social media campaigns, and behind the scenes creative work. Most productions are based in Greensboro, North Carolina with additional travel opportunities depending on production needs, creative direction, and filming locations. Production schedules and filming days may vary depending on project scope, scene requirements, timelines, and location availability.
