Audio Technician (Sound Recordist / Mixer)
The Audio Technician captures clean, professional production sound on location. This role handles mic placement, dialogue clarity, and monitoring wireless and boom setups to prevent unwanted ambient noise. Responsibilities include managing field recorders, tracking sound logs, and maintaining consistent sync parameters. Evaluation focuses on a sharp ear for detail, immediate problem-solving speed, and strict technical organization. All production schedules are structured around half days (3–5 hours) or full days (8 hours maximum).
Core Responsibilities
Capture high-fidelity production dialogue, room tone, and sound effects on set.
Operate multi-channel field recorders, mixers, and multi-track recording systems.
Deploy proper microphone techniques using boom poles and hidden lavalier placement.
Monitor real-time frequency channels to prevent audio dropouts or interference.
Maintain exact timecode sync parameters with the compact cinema camera package.
Organize clear multi-track sound logs and metadata files daily for post-production.
Ideal Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience recording, mixing, or capturing professional production audio.
System Knowledge: Complete mastery and operational knowledge of professional multi-track recorders, field mixers, wired microphones, boom kits, and wireless lavalier systems.
Acoustic Focus: Ability to isolate dialogue, spot hidden environmental noises, and track audio gains under pressure.
Speed: Capability to wire talent and adjust settings efficiently without slowing down production.
Punctuality: Arrival before call time to calibrate frequencies and sound check the space.
Production Environment

Most productions are based in Greensboro, North Carolina with additional travel opportunities depending on production needs, creative direction, and filming locations. Production schedules and filming days may vary depending on project scope, scene requirements, timelines, and location availability.
